The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has recently issued Guidelines for the Second Special All-India Drive against fake GST Registrations as per Instruction No. 02/2024 dated 12th August 2024.

Key highlight of the special drive-

  • This special All-India drive will be effective from 1st Aug 2024 to 15th October 2024.
  • Entities found guilty of obtaining fake GST registrations will face stringent penalties, including the cancellation of their GSTIN, suspension of GSTIN or blocking of input tax credit.
  • Action will also be taken against the beneficiaries behind the such fake GSTIN in term of recovery of dues, provisional attachment of property and bank account

Action point for GSTIN holder-

  • Display the certificate of GST registration at prominent location at his principal place of business and at every additional place of business.
  • Display the GSTIN Number on the name board exhibited at entry of Principal place of business and at every additional place of business.
  • Should have proof for possession of premises i.e. rent/lease agreement, registry and utility bill etc.
  • All related documents should be in order.
